Is a Boca Grande fishing charter a good idea with kids?
Yes, and the trip you choose matters more than how old they are. The 4 hour inshore charter is the one families with small children book most: shallow water, short runs, and fish that keep the rods busy. Every guest is covered by the boat’s fishing license, life vests are on board, and the charter is private, so the boat holds your group and nobody else.
What is inshore fishing like in Charlotte Harbor for snook and redfish?
It is shallow, close and good all year. Charlotte Harbor holds snook, redfish and trout through every season, mostly in water less than 2 foot deep. In summer the fish sit tight under the mangroves. The rest of the year the trips work the open water flats, with live bait in the warm months and artificial lures and shrimp once it cools.
What is a private sunset and dolphin cruise near Boca Grande like?
It is your own boat on Boca Grande Pass, Gasparilla Sound and Charlotte Harbor, with time to look for dolphins and watch the sun go down. The shortest trip is a 2 hour cruise built around golden hour. The 4 and 6 hour cruises add beach stops, shelling and longer stretches watching for wildlife. Bring your own drinks. Everything else is on board.
Can you keep a tarpon you catch in Boca Grande?
No. Tarpon are catch and release only. You fight the fish, get your photos and let it go. A tarpon under 40 inches can be lifted briefly from the water for a picture. Anything over 40 inches stays in the water for the photo and the release.
