What is a private sunset and dolphin cruise near Boca Grande like?
It is your own boat on Boca Grande Pass, Gasparilla Sound and Charlotte Harbor, with time to look for dolphins and watch the sun go down. The shortest trip is a 2 hour cruise built around golden hour. The 4 and 6 hour cruises add beach stops, shelling and longer stretches watching for wildlife. Bring your own drinks. Everything else is on board.
What it actually depends on
How long you have. Two hours catches the sunset and little else. Four or six leave room to stop at a beach and wander.
Who is coming. The shorter tours are the ones for families with young children. Longer trips suit a group that wants to explore at its own pace.
What you hope to see. Many guests spot dolphins, manatees and seabirds. Wildlife keeps its own schedule, though, and nobody can guarantee a sighting.
The water around Boca Grande, after the fishing
Most people know this stretch of coast for tarpon. In the evening it is a different place. The longer cruises can take in the white sand beaches of Cayo Costa, with time to walk and look for shells.
The captain is a lifelong resident who has spent his life on these waters, and shares what he knows about the area and its wildlife as you go.
There is an ice chest for bottled water, you are welcome to bring your own drinks, and you leave with photos of the trip. It is private, so the boat carries your party and no one else.
Common questions
Can we change how long the cruise lasts?
Yes. The tour can be tailored to your schedule and to what you want to do, whether that is a short sunset run or a longer day with beach stops.
Will we definitely see dolphins?
Many guests do, along with manatees and seabirds. Sightings cannot be guaranteed, because the animals are wild.
Can we bring alcohol?
Yes, BYOB is welcome. Alcohol is for guests age 21 and over.
What do we need to bring?
Nothing is required. Bring sunblock and a hat if you burn easily, and your own drinks.
